Our group of four, mainly from Huntercombe Golf Club had two rounds at Hollinwell in August and we all enjoyed it immensely. The course is truly one of the best – up there with the really great UK courses. Willie Park Jnr’s original design has stood the test of time and the course still offers a wonderful challenge to golfers of all levels.
We all felt that the course was presented beautifully: the tees were superb, fairways immaculate and the greens were very special, and of the finest quality, being both fast and extremely true. They were also difficult because of the subtle borrows and gentle slopes – a birdie is a real treat (and we had a few!).
On the second day, we started at 9.30 and had the course to ourselves with no one in front and no one behind – real millionnaires golf and we felt very privileged as the sun was shinning and there was a gentle breeze. As you would expect though with a course of the quality of Hollinwell, it got busy later in the day.
We were made very welcome in the clubhouse, both by the staff and members and the food was excellent. Looking up the 18th fairway from the bar in the clubhouse is one of the special views in golf: nearly as good as looking out of the window of the Big Room in the R&A clubhouse at St Andrews.
We all felt that Hollinwell was worth every penny of the green fee and we will certainly return next year.
We visited Hollinwell yesterday on Tuesday 31st May. The weather was horrific but your staff were tremendous and made us feel very welcome. The professional and his assistant were extremely helpful and the course was in excellent condition. The barman and catering were first class. We have visited many top class golf courses in the past and Hollinwell certainly ranks up there as one of the best. Every one of the eight golfers in our party stated that they would like to return………hopefully when the weather is more kind
Many thanks and best wishes
Thank you so much for offering us your fantastic venue to host our Sports Publications golf day.
We found your staff to be most helpful and friendly, the food we were served was great and the course was in magnificent condition.
Notts. G.C. (Hollinwell) is a perfect venue to host a golf day.

The first thing that strikes you as you come onto the property is how aesthetically beautiful it is. The layout of the grounds is just right. The placement of the clubhouse can't be better with great views of the golf course and surrounding hills, you really get the sense of how big the course and surrounding area are.
I found the golf course to be straight forward and not gimmicky. It rewards good shots but doesn't over penalize poor ones. Wouldn't it be great if all courses were like that? The true test of a course is that it should require you to hit different shots and Hollinwell does that. You must drive it as straight as your tie and be precise with your approaches. There is a nice mix of short holes and long ones. It's a great test of your game but very fair.
I've played a lot of famous courses and said, "ok, I don't need to come back here" but just the opposite is true of Hollinwell, I can't wait to come back. It's playing golf on your own private preserve and it doesn't get any better than that.

Thank you so much for your time and attention in enabling The Care Open to be such a great event. We've had nothing but positive feedback from all those that attended the event and we felt it exceeded all our expectations.
The Clubhouse and Greens were so well presented and although tough in the strong winds, we were pleased you had organised the sunshine for the day. A big thank you to David and Tracey as the lunch and dinner was delicious. We appreciated their can do attitude and felt throughout the planning, that nothing was too much trouble.
Thanks also to Mike and his staff in the pro shop. They were great in helping us to organise all the merchandise, which was very well received by all the players. The players loved the goodies produced for the day and thought the prize table was one of the best they had seen!
The Care Open was such a fantastic day, and with your help it ran smoothly, stress free and was lots of fun! We managed to raise a considerable sum of money for our chosen charities helped along by your strong arming during the tee raffle!
We are looking forward to hosting The Care Open 2016 at The Notts Golf Club.

The course is in absolutely stunning condition, there can't be many clubs in the country with better greens at this time of year. It is a real honour to play our home matches here; a course every golfer must experience.

May we take the opportunity to thank you and the members of Notts. Golf Club for your hospitality to England Golf today. The twenty-four boys from the regions of the North-West, Yorkshire and West Midlands had a challenging but very educational experience of competing on a golf course of the highest quality. All the boys enjoyed it greatly and will have learn't from the opportunity.
The golf course was in quite fantastic condition, and all your staff very welcoming. In particular, could you pass on our thanks to your Club Professional Mike, and to your Catering Manager Tracy for not only her lovely meal, but also looking after a good number of parents through the day.
Many thanks again, we hope to have the opportunity to visit Notts. Golf Club with our squads again in the future.

We had the pleasure and privilege to play the course today on the winter deal.
On behalf of our fourball we would like to compliment the club on making it such an enjoyable experience.
We are players who have all played the game 30 years plus, the professionals staff were helpful, the green staff were friendly and the bar/ catering staff were courteous and attentive. The course was in great shape, particularly for this time of year. We have all enjoyed the facilities of your fine course many times and hope to do so for years to come

Thank you for the magnificent hospitality bestowed by you during my visit. I very much appreciate playing with your members during the Society day and also my wife Kat being allowed to join us for a quick drink.
Having played the World Top 100 golf courses (one of 13 individuals to do so) and now 49 of the Golf World UK Top 50, the Notts. Golf Club is one of the 3 top courses in England along with Sunningdale Old and Royal Birkdale from an architectural perspective in my opinion. There is a wonderful variety of holes at Hollinwell on a very epic scale with the large acreage that the routing was cleverly built upon. The conditioning, particularly the fairways, is superb and hopefully the courses will play firm and fast for many years to come.
1. Has the Club considered moving up the tee box of one of the par 3s each day so that they don’t all potentially require the same club?
2.Do you think the current scorecard with the low quality photograph and advertisement on the coverage benefits a great club such as Notts?
I hope to visit again in the future and will encourage my fellow American golfers to visit your club…they will not be disappointed!

A very good test of golf in a wonderful setting. The holes are varied and each one presents a challenge in its own right! The course was in tremendous condition for the time of year and I am sure it will be unbelievable later in the year when the trees are in full leaf. A very welcoming Club that looked after us superbly. All in all a real gem and a course everyone should play
Alan Codling (PMGC Captain 2012)
I have been coming to Notts. for almost 8 years and when you are remembered by the Pro and Caterer now that’s what I call a welcome the personal touch! The food was excellent and the course again in excellent condition for the time of year. Even though the greens had been top dressed they still putted extremely well. Always a pleasure to play Notts. GC and I am looking forward to the AM AM in May.
